AMANDA + JAMES is a New York-based company dedicated to producing the work of young artists. Guided by the founding partnership of Amanda Hameline and James Danner, and their ongoing collaboration, the company is creating a community of young artists across disciplines, casting their talents into creative and productive tension, and providing a context within which to evolve. While offering young artists the active opportunity to clarify their artistic voice, the company seeks to bring to its audiences a fresh and engaging body of art from some of New York's most talented rising practitioners.

Amanda Hameline and James Danner met as high school students in New York City. After four years of putting on shows together they both enrolled at Harvard College where performing remained an ardent passion. Finally, in the fall of 2010, they teamed up to create a production of Schiller's Mary Stuart, in the Loeb Experimental Theater at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, MA. Emboldened by the success of the show and the working dynamic of two artists rooted in different disciplines coming together to form a third, the pair set about honing their craft and plotting where to find a post-collegiate environment for their efforts. In the summer of 2012, the pair produced a show, ... and then I touched the Sea, as a test run to see if their nascent idea for a company just might work. After a sold-out run in New York, the two friends got busy. AMANDA + JAMES is the result of their desire to bring together a community of like-minded young artists not only to bring forth new and exciting artwork, but also to provide a framework for developing the friendships and partnerships that make being a practicing artist so thrilling and fulfilling. To that end, the company holds regular meetings to workshop, discuss, share, innovate, create--all with the understanding that AMANDA + JAMES exists to see ideas become reality.
