Biography

John Britton is a versatile trumpet player currently based in Miami, FL. He is studying at the University of Miami to become a music therapist and studied jazz performance at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY.

John's career path was set from the age of three when he first performed with his musical family. While still in the 8th grade, John played 1st trumpet with the Arundel High School Jazz Band, which was gaining national recognition in competitions. He was chosen to participate in the Essentially Ellington Competition in NYC, and was selected as 1st chair in the Maryland Youth Symphony Orchestra, performing with them in both China and Italy. John has performed as a "side by side soloist" with both the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and with the U.S. Naval Academy Concert Band in Annapolis, Md. Over the years John has joined jazz legends Frank Mantooth, Wycliffe Gordon, Peter Erskine, Bruce Hornsby and Dave Glasser on stage.

John currently studies with Brian Lynch at the University of Miami and is grateful for his past teachers and mentors including John Babcock, Clay Jenkins, Langston Fitzgerald, Doug Prosser, and Terrell Stafford.
